Lay Summary
Low platelet counts are common in pregnancy, and a small number of babies born to mothers with immune thrombocytopenia can develop very low platelet levels after birth. This can sometimes lead to serious bleeding, including bleeding in the brain. This audit will review how newborn babies at risk are currently monitored and treated across the UK, and compare practice with expert guidelines, to help improve and standardise neonatal care.
