Lay Summary

Blood clots in the lungs, or pulmonary embolism (PE) are a leading cause of death in pregnancy and after childbirth. This national audit will review how high-risk PE is treated in pregnant and recently pregnant women across the UK, and how these treatments affect mothers and babies, to help improve care and outcomes.
A paper on this was published in 2025, and further analysis is being carried out.
